Social media & websites can be daunting, especially when all you want to do is spend your time writing. Did you know that agents, readers, and even reporters often look you up online? It’s true. I once had a BBC reporter contact me after finding an article I had written for my blog, Style On The Side.

The easier you are to find online, the more of a presence you have, the more it goes to your credibility as a writer. It’s not necessarily fair, I know, but that’s how the industry is at the moment. Even if you are a traditionally published writer you are still expected to promote your work. So, why not start working on that now, and give yourself every advantage possible.

My website was an embarrassment before I hired Caroline. She worked quickly and charged me a fair price. Just look at it today Thanks Caroline!

Social Media & Websites

FIND THE READERS YOU NEVER KNEW YOU HAD
There are two types of writers, those who embrace social media and those who hate it. Although social media might not strictly be necessary to a successful writing career, by avoiding it, you are passing the opportunity to engage with many potential new readers.
Why not give yourself every advantage possible? Social media can be a powerful tool contributing to a writer’s success and best of all, you do not need to spend hours a day working on it.
HANG YOUR VIRTUAL SHINGLE
You may be asking yourself, as a writer, do you really need a blog or a website? All you want to do is write and now someone is telling you that you need a website. Isn’t this just an expensive distraction to keep you from what you really want to be doing? Does any of this sound familiar? In today’s competitive book market, having an author website that clearly represents you and more importantly helps you sell books, is a must.
This is the complete guide to creating an author website.
