Caroline Topperman, a European-Canadian writer, moved to her ancestral homeland of Poland to embrace her love for cultural exploration. Her book, Tell Me What You See, draws inspiration from her travels. Her hybrid memoir, Your Roots Cast a Shadow (HCI Books), explores explosive intergenerational histories that link war zones and foreign shores with questions of identity and belonging. She is a co-founder of Mountain Ash Press, KW Writers Alliance, and teaches at an underground school for girls in Afghanistan. Caroline currently lives in a worker’s cottage in Toronto, until the urge to move strikes again.

Caroline Topperman is a European-Canadian writer, entrepreneur, dancer and world traveler.
Born in Sweden, raised in Canada and currently residing in Poland, Caroline has a love of traveling and experiencing different cultures. She speaks fluent English, Polish and French and has even found a way to communicate with her playfully -mischievous dog, Pixie.
Always a go-getter, Caroline has danced professionally, owned a Pilates studio, consulted customers at beauty counters and even had a short stint at a car dealership. She isn’t afraid to try something new and adventurous.
Having traveled extensively with her family throughout her life, Caroline gained an appreciation of various styles, from her grandmother’s European jewelry collection to her French-Canadian middle school peer’s mini skirt made out of men’s ties.
As the founder of Style on the Side, Caroline has infused her professional background in fitness and beauty with her worldly upbringing to share her personal experiences, insights and ultimately give others permission to step outside of their boxes and discover their own unique style/voice.
She wants women to stop worrying about what fashion accessory is in season or what’s trending in the fitness arena and instead realize that individual style is eternal and being healthy doesn’t have to be complicated.
